Stephen Hunt é um escritor mais conhecido por uma série de romances de fantasia com steampunk, conhecida como Jackelian series, cujo primeiro livro foi lançado no Brasil como A Corte do Ar (do roiginal The Court of the Air) pela editora Saída de Emergência Brasil. A lista de autores que deram influências ao seu trabalho inclui: Jack Williamson, William Gibson, Stephen Goldin , Bruce Sterling , Larry Niven e Michael Moorcock. Contos de Hunt já apareceram em várias revistas do gênero, principalmente no Reino Unido e EUA, e estes seus primeiros trabalhos foram escritos no gênero de cyberpunk e fantasia. Hunt diz que ao escrever "A Corte do Ar" em momento algum pensou em criar algo steampunk mas as coisas foram se encaixando para evoluir pro gênero. Suas obras já foram publicadas em mais de 8 línguas.
