Um livro doloroso.

Sim, dolorosamente narrado em primeira pessoa, numa prosa poética e intensa, Jack conta sua viajem para o México e como se apaixonou por uma guria junkie, baseado em fatos que realmente ocorreram em sua vida. Cada frase forma uma sentença aflita e fugaz de um homem louco de amor, de dor por não conseguir seu diamante reluzente, e Tristessa ecoa em sua mente o tempo todo, nas ruas maltrapilhas do México. Simplesmente uma pérola, curto demais e belo demais como a própria vida.
