Publicado originalmente em 1942, "A Desagradável Profissão de Jonathan Hoag" , de Robert A. Heinlein, é um livro extremamente instigante, que mistura ficção científica, suspense e até mesmo um pouco de filosofia. As primeiras páginas da obra já prendem a atenção, e a partir daí tudo escala em uma estranheza muito satisfatória.

A história acompanha Jonathan Hoag, um homem que não tem memórias sobre o que faz durante o dia. Para descobrir, ele contrata um casal de detetives para seguí-lo. Desse ponto em diante, nos vemos envoltos em um enredo de mistérios, realidades distorcidas e boas reviravoltas.

Embora não exista ainda uma tradução oficial do livro, é fácil encontrá-lo em uma tradução de fã, muito competente, feita por Alessandro Ciapina.
