Essa historia se passa no shardworld de Sel, que é o mesmo mundo onde se passa Elantris, que inclusive quando li achei bem fraco, talvez seja porque foi o primeiro livro dele, não sei. Mas The emperor Soul’s é completamente diferente, apesar de se passar quase o tempo todo no mesmo cenário com pouquíssimas vezes fora dele, é uma novela fascinante e que te prende de uma forma absurda, o sistema de magia é original.

Shai é uma forjadora, uma espécie que pode replicar objetos e pessoas através da manipulação de sua história. Ela é condenada a morte após tentar roubar um artefato antigo do Imperador e substituí-lo por uma réplica.
Porém, o Imperador sofre um ataque onde fica em estado vegetativo por ter sofrido danos cerebrais, então Shai ganha uma nova chance de escapar da morte, mas para isso ela precisa forjar uma nova alma para o Imperador tendo apenas 100 dias para realizar a tarefa nunca feita antes.

Essa novela apesar de se passar no mesmo planeta, não tem nada a ver com elantris, então não precisa de ordem para ler.

Recomendo demais, vale muito a pena e é tão curta de ler que deveria ter mais páginas, a Shai é fascinante e muito inteligente e o poder dela é magnifico. Os diálogos dela com Gaotona que muitas vezes saia vermelho de raiva da sala por causa dela, também são muito legais. Curti muito também como fora a vida do Imperador, e me fez perguntar a mim mesma quem somos e o que nos tornamos. A relação entre Gaotona e Asharavan me tocou profundamente. Fiquei emocionada ao ver que Gaotona não via Asharavan apenas como um imperador, mas como um filho. A forma desesperada e o risco que Gaotona estava disposto a correr para trazê-lo de volta, mesmo sabendo que Asharavan não seria o mesmo, me faz refletir sobre até onde iríamos para trazer de volta alguém que amamos. Gostaria muito que os personagens daqui se cruzassem com os da continuação de elantris que o Sanderson escreverá em breve.
