Uma história bem triste, mas que mostra um pouco da mitologia dos Herrani, como era a vida antes da guerra e o que os Herrani achavam dos Venturian. Fora que a história que a mãe do Arin conta serve como um prenúncio da história que está por vir no primeiro livro. Eu sempre gosto muito dessas novellas e contos, mesmo que algumas vezes elas não acrescentem muito à história principal.
