Wolverine awakens to find that he is back in the Weapon X project, covered with tubes, needles, and probes. He breaks free of the tank in which he was submerged, and discovers that he's really just reliving the memory, courtesy of an apologetic Professor X. Xavier believes that by freezing this memory and examing it more closely, they can determine the identity of Wolverine's hunters. It works; the crazy woman who's been stalking him was in the room when he first woke up. She, and all of the other soldiers, were part of the Weapon X project, serving under Wraith.

Breaking out of the memory, Logan and Xavier talk, first a little about his current situation, but eventually about why Wolverine left just one day after returning to the Institute. Logan says that despite the fact that everyone said they forgave him, he can still smell their fear, distrust and hate. "So, yeah, I did us all a favor and I took off." Considering this, Xavier replies that trust and respect must be earned, and that running off certainly won't accomplish that.
