Esse livro não contém gatilhos, mas sim um arsenal completo

Frequentemente associado ao realismo sujo, Chuck Palahniuk é uma metralhadora de críticas mordazes a diversos aspectos da sociedade. Porém ele se aproxima mais do sujo do que propriamente do realismo. O autor não poupa os leitores de termos coloquiais, escatológicos, carregados de malícia. Já nas obras que já li, o realismo fica um pouco deixado de lado, dado a acontecimentos bem mirabolantes em suas histórias, não entrando no sobrenatural porém fica ali na encruzilhada do crível com o impossível.

Em Sobrevivente, o alvo é a sombria relação entre fama, religião e consumismo. O protagonista Tender Branson é um dos poucos remanescentes de uma seita cujos membros cometeram suicídio em massa (gatilho n.1); ele é um ser de caráter duvidoso, um anti-herói e uma figura moralmente ambígua. Ele estimula pessoas que ligam a um centro de valorização a vida a se matarem (vários gatilhos aqui, são inúmeros exemplos). Violência psicológica e submissão (mais gatilhos), embotamento social e isolamento (gatilhos e gatilhos). Abuso de substâncias ilícitas, assassinatos, perversidade e manipulação pela religião. É por aí... mas vale a pena ler todo esse tipo de bizarrice? Se você está em uma situação confortável mentalmente falando e está disposto a uma viagem alucinante, sim vale muito.

Além disso, o livro toma rumos Inesperados (como já se espera de um livro desse autor) e se torna um road-book bem divertido (atenção para o que você julga divertimento haha). Para os leitores calejados do autor, que sempre espera um plot twist a lá Clube da Luta, em Sobrevivente com o decorrer da história você pode jurar que virá uma virada incrível de explodir cabeças... mas não vem. Não do jeito que se espera e essa quebra de expectativa por si só acaba se tornando o plot twist.

Ler Sobrevivente foi surreal, divertido, incômodo e com uma pontinha mínima de decepção que não diminuiu em nada a experiência.
