Judith Butler é uma filósofa pós-estruturalista estadunidense, que contribuiu para os campos do feminismo, Teoria Queer, filosofia política e ética. Ela é professora da cátedra Maxine Elliot no Departamento de Retórica e Literatura Comparada da University of California em Berkeley.[1] Butler obteve seu Ph.D. em filosofia da Yale University em 1984, e sua dissertação foi subseqüentemente publicada como Subjects of Desire: Hegelian Reflections in Twentieth-Century France.
