Braunbeck sempre se mostra um ferrenho defensor dos fracos e oprimidos.
Em 'In silent graves' foram as crianças, rejeitadas, deformadas, marginalizadas. Nesse livro são os animais.
A frase "o homem não deveria dominar a Terra..." tem um impacto profundo.
A narrativa oscila entre o passado do narrador e uma batalha estranha acontecendo no presente. Conhecemos um amor de adolescência muito, muito doce, do protagonista por sua melhor amiga, Beth.
Muita coisa estranha acontece então, algumas cenas notáveis na memória, algo entre experiências da Umbrella Corporation e estórias do Robin Cook.
A especulação sobre a origem e natureza dos Keepers é muito boa, legal que ele não tenha explicado tudo.
