The only way to restore sanity is by engaging in collective action against the social conditions that have crowded it out.

Um clamor pelo retorno do uso da razão, principalmente no discurso político

Livro super importante em tempos de irracionalidade e fake news contaminando nossa política e democracia.
Joseph Heath defende que, apesar de todas as limitações, a razão é uma parte fundamental do que nos faz humanos e é a nossa melhor ferramenta na difícil caminhada em busca de melhores condições de vida por meio da colaboração.
Heath também argumenta que a reação desproporcional ao que teriam sido excessos da razão representou um retorno ao uso da intuição de dos sentimentos que, sozinhos, não são capazes de solucionar os problemas do homem que não vive mais em pequenos agrupamentos (onde as exigências, em termos de razão, são mais modestas).
A partir dessa observação, o autor nos convida ao retorno à razão iniciando pelo cultivo da discussão política lenta (Slow Politics), inspirado pelo movimento de reação ao fast food (Slow Food).
