Jo Walton é uma autora canadense de fantasia, ficção científica e poeta. Walton nasceu em Aberdare, no Vale do Cynon de Gales e formou-se na Universidade de Lancaster. Ela viveu em Londres por dois anos, viveu em Lancaster, até 1997 e, em seguida, mudou-se para Swansea, onde viveu até se mudar para o Canadá em 2002. É casada com Dr. Emmet A.
