This special publication has been prepared to support the Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (GAP-AMR) that WHO is developing in collaboration with FAO and OIE.
The publication compiles a note of the OIE Director General on the risks associated with the use of antimicrobial agents in animals worldwide, the OIE standards and guidelines on antimicrobial resistance and the use of antimicrobial agents from the Terrestrial and Aquatic Animal Health Codes and the Manual of Diagnostic Test and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals, the OIE List of antimicrobial agents of veterinary importance, and finally the Resolution No. 26 on ‘Combating Antimicrobial Resistance and Promoting the Prudent Use of Antimicrobial Agents in Animals’ adopted by the World Assembly of Delegates during the 83rd General Session in 2015.
