Vigésimo volume da saga Discworld e quarto do arco Morte.

Novamente discutindo o que é a existência, Pratchett se valeu de figuras alegóricas como o Hogfather (sua versão de Papai Noel) para implicar que se no Mundo do Disco é a crença que determina a física, então o mesmo pode ser dito de outros seres como O Monstro Comedor de Meias.

O mesmo tema já havia sido explorado em Pequenos Deuses, mas diferindo das noções religiosas deste, a história de Hogfather tem um cunho mais político-filosófico. Os Auditores da Realidade, algo como os burocratas supremos, podem decidir o que existe ou não, porém não conseguem visualizar ou se importar com as consequências de seus atos.

É com a ajuda de Susan que Morte consegue ultrapassar as limitações impostas por seus superiores que a história se desenrola em uma caçada contra um assassino serial. Pois quem melhor para matar uma alegoria do que um psicopata treinado pela Guilda dos Assassinos? Sim, as referências ao governo britânico e sua história abundam no texto.
