Fenomenal

Geralmente eu avalio livros de acordo com meu gosto pessoal, mas The Nightingale é uma exceção. Ele é muito maior do que meu gosto pessoal, é uma obra que qualquer tipo de leitor pode apreciar.

Essa é a história de duas irmãs na França durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, Vianne e Isabelle. Como irmã mais velha, Vianne foca em sustentar a família e ficar fora do radar dos nazistas, enquanto que Isabelle começa a trabalhar junto com a Resistência logo que a guerra começa.

Ao mesmo tempo que todos sabemos os acontecimentos da Segunda Guerra, ainda assim o livro me ensinou muito sobre a realidade na França. Apesar disso, por já conhecer muito dos fatos históricos, o livro me deu uma ansiedade imensa por saber que as coisas só iriam piorar. E sempre pioravam, na mesma proporção que as irmãs se desenvolviam como heroínas. A Vianne me impressionou muito, porque no início ela tenta ignorar a guerra e seguir sua vida normal. À medida que o tempo passa, ela percebe que isso não será possível e busca fazer sua parte como cidadã francesa.

Eu li as últimas 250 páginas em uma sentada, porque eu simplesmente fiquei completamente envolvida pela história (inclusive chorei perto do final, quando uma das personagens passa por uma situação complicada).

Essa é uma das obras mais satisfatórias sobre guerra que já tive contato, recomendo para qualquer tipo de leitor.
