As a big fan of memoirs, I wanted to try my hand at writing about the events of my life that deserve a little more consideration than can be accomplished in 140-characters or a 6-minute vlog. Now on the cusp of turning 30, I'm ready to expose some parts of my life that I haven't shared before. Before, it was all about privacy, process and time. And now the time has come! I’m ready to put myself out there, for you.

I'm a little nervous about all these vulnerable words going into the world, these tales about my love life, the wrestling I’ve done with faith, how I feel about sex and my family and myself. I’ve had a lot of trials, a lot of errors, but also a lot of passion. Here’s the thing--I've always found comfort in the stories shared by others, so I hope my stories, now that I feel ready to tell them, will bring you some comfort too.

And when you read this book please remember: Buffering is just the time it takes to process.

Um livro de altos e baixos, mas no bom sentido

Eu adoro assistir os vídeos de Hannah Hart, principalmente os que ela aparece com Grace Helbig e Mamrie Hart. Então, foi uma surpresa muito grande descobrir que aquela mulher risonha, divertida e até meio boba tinha uma história de vida tão sofrida.

Buffering retrata a infância, a juventude e a vida adulta de Hannah. Baseando-se em diários que ela escreveu aos longos do ano, ela remonta esses períodos aos pedaços. Vai "carregando" para que a gente entenda como foi sua vida e até onde ela chegou.

A narrativa é construída por meio de flashbacks. De início, não parece uma boa escolha, pois as histórias de sua infância são bem mais interessantes do que as da vida adulta. Entretanto, através de sua escrita, percebemos que a vida não segue uma história tão linear e para entendermos algumas coisas, é necessário voltar pro passado.

É muito interessante como ela fala de sua família. Apesar de viver na completa miséria, com uma mãe esquizofrênica, não há julgamento em suas falas. E a sua visão de mundo da infância impregna o texto, pois quando ela descreve a casa da mãe no fim do livro é que percebemos o quão horrível era viver naquela casa.

No entanto, por ser um livro de 2016, vários comentários sobre a internet são terrivelmente datados e, como disse, alguns capítulos sobre a vida adulta são bem desinteressantes (a parte sobre viajar de avião, por exemplo, é tediosa). Nada que comprometesse o livro, mas estragou um pouco o meu fluxo de leitura.

Buffering é um livro de altos e baixos. Mostra uma Hannah Hart bem sucedida, mas que também sofre com transtornos mentais. Alguém que é muito amável, mas que tem problemas em se conectar. No fim, é um livro sobre a Hannah da internet, mas também sobre a Hannah que é igual a gente.
