The Giver is that kind of book that everyone must read, this book gonna tell you about the story of Jonas and his live at the (utopia) community, which is a perfect and neat community without a trace of disorder. But then, everything changes after the ceremony of 12!
now my personal story with this book:
Well, everything started when I was 17 on my last year at my english course and my teacher Letícia give us this book, which I'm really grateful for her and to all the teachers that I had and the free course/institution for given us the opportunity to learn this language (and the book). That time I couldn't read a single page without getting headaches and then unfortunately I dropped the book, a spent an entire year without reading anything (2019), so at the beginning of the pandemic (2020) I was so bored that I decided to read mangas, but I was so frustrated to wait for a portuguese translation that I started to read mangas in english. Another year had passed and here I'm in 2021 (🙀😱) looking to all my "to be reads pile" and then I decided to give a try to "The Giver", I was so SURPRISED and HAPPY that I could read the entire first chapter without looking for new words! Really, the experience was so satisfying!
Even though I took a long break, now I know it was necessary, I needed the experience reading mangas and webtoons before. btw I'm grateful for everything and for all the things I passed with my english learning journey. 💕
