Lucy Maud Montgomery
Lucy Maud Montgomery nasceu em Clifton (atualmente New London), Ilha do Príncipe Eduardo em 30 de novembro de 1874. Sua mãe, Clara Woolner Macneill Montgomery, morreu de tuberculose quando Maud tinha 21 meses. Estremecido pela morte da esposa, o pai, Hugh Montgomery, deu a sua custódia para seus avós maternos.
