Foi difícil

O livro é uma coletânea de 15 contos que, sinceramente, só fazem sentido se você for atrás de muita explicação. Não que eles sejam sem pé nem cabeça. Não é isso. Você até entende o que está acontecendo. Mas é tudo tão trivial, cotidiano, que eu fiquei me perguntando porque foi escrito e porque é considerado um clássico.

Só consegui entender porque o livro é tão relevante depois de ver vídeos de análises para cada um dos contos. Foi um processo longo e trabalhoso. E nem sempre foi legal. Acho que valeu a pena. É interessante olhar para cada um dos contos através das análises e explicações de alguém que sabe mais do que você.

Dito isso, apesar de entender sua importância e reconhecer a qualidade dos contos, não foi uma experiência 100% positiva.

Eu gostei muito dos primeiros oito contos, que falam sobre infância e juventude. (Inclusive, An Encounter é o meu favorito. E acho que dá para entender por conta própria.) Os três contos sobre a maturidade foram legais (Clay é o melhor). Já os últimos três, que falam sobre a vida pública, foram um sofrimento. E o conto final, The Dead, foi ok de ler, mas não vi toda a grandiosidade que muitos leitores dão a ele.

Fico feliz por ter terminado o livro . Não foi divertido o tempo todo. Mas eu saio da leitura com alguns conhecimentos a mais. Acho que o que torna os contos interessantes são os contextos políticos, históricos, sociais etc. E fica procurando essas explicações é cansativo.
