Vago, corrido e sem graça

Eu não comprei esse livro porque fiquei interessada nele, porque li a sinopse e gostei. Foi porque vi uma autora vendendo por desapego e achei a capa bonita. Depois, não encontrei resenhas tão positivas sobre ele, então nem esperava grande coisa. Ele é super curtinho, tem menos de trezentas páginas, o que para mim é um absurdo de pequeno. Só esperava que fosse uma história leve, fofa e que, apesar de não acrescentar muito, me divertisse.

É realmente um livro leve, mas está mais para leve em questão de vago e vazio. Não chega a ser divertido, mas chega bem perto de ser entediante. O livro lida com tantas questões importantes, como a mudança da mãe da protagonista ao emagrecer bastante, ou a visão de Savvy sobre seu próprio corpo, suas experiências amorosas, a questão do jornal do colégio e como George reage à Savvy. Tinha tanto potencial aqui para ser explorado, tanta coisa que merecia atenção, mas a autora não conseguiu explorar nada. Fiquei bem decepcionada quando sentia que algo importante e mais complexo teria vez e aí acabava sendo passado por cima.

A escrita da autora não é muito boa mesmo. As descrições são vagas e desconfortáveis, as cenas não são nada imersivas e certos diálogos ficaram tão forçados, que, mesmo que passassem "boas mensagens", não tinha como levar a sério. O romance entre Savvy e George foi a única coisa que me deu certa esperança de ser bem trabalhada, e tem uma ou duas cenas bem bacanas nele mesmo, mas fico ainda mais irritada por todo o potencial dele que foi jogado fora aqui.

Não sei se vale a pena ficar pensando no que eu não gostei no livro, porque não teve nada de que eu gostei afinal. A ideia de tudo aqui foi boa, mas a execução nem chegou perto de ser. Não tem nada revoltante ou ofensivo, mas isso não deveria ser uma qualidade. Pelo menos a leitura foi rápida e fácil.
