Ok, são livros assim que me fazem pensar: minha nossa, é por isso que eu amo ler.

We Have Always Lived in The Castle é uma história de mistério e horror que relata parte da vida das irmãs Blackwood, Mary Katherine e Constance. As mesmas vivem isoladas do resto do mundo em uma majestosa mansão, que foi palco de uma grande e misteriosa tragédia 6 anos antes dos acontecimentos retratados no livro.

Na minha opinião, dois elementos foram extremamente marcantes nesse livro: a narrativa e o desenvolvimento das personagens. A partir de sua escrita, a autora é capaz de transmitir os pensamentos mais obscuros de Merricat a medida que também descreve e nos faz sentir na pele a agorafobia de Constance.

Por causa disso, é um livro que causa agonia e desconforto mas também deixa o leitor curioso e em busca de respostas. Inclusive, descobrir o criminoso me deixou sem palavras e eu até tive que reler mais uma vez pois tudo foi revelado de maneira natural, singela e eu diria que até poética.
