Winifred Mary Beard (Much Wenlock, Reino Unido, 1 de janeiro de 1955) é professora da Universidade de Cambridge, membro do Newnham College, e uma das mais conhecidas e relevantes especialistas sobre a Antiguidade da Grã-Bretanha. É uma das intelectuais britânicas mais influentes, editora consultiva de Antiguidade Clássica e História Antiga do The Times Literary Supplement (TLS), além de manter o blog A Don’s Life, relacionado ao tema. Mary Beard é autora de livros de referência como Rome in the Late Republic (1985, 1999), Pagan Priests: Religion and Power in the Ancient World (1990), The Parthenon (2002), Confronting the Classics: Traditions, Adventures and Innovations (2013), O triunfo romano (2007), Pompeia, história e lenda de uma cidade (2008) e SPQR: Uma história da Roma antiga (2016). Eleita como membro da Sociedade dos Antiquários de Londres (2005), da British Academy (2010) e da Academia Americana de Artes e Ciências (2011), em 2008 recebeu o Wolfson History Prize (Reino Unido) por Pompeya, em 2013 recebeu a Ordem do Imperio Britânico e o Prêmio da Classical Association (Reino Unido). É catedrática de Literatura Antiga da Real Academia de Artes e detentora da Medalha Bodley (2016). Em 2016 a historiadora foi distinguida com o Prêmio Princesa das Astúrias de Ciências Sociais.
