Sad…
This is quite a sad book for kids. I feel like it could deliver the same message without so many tragic moments. When the turtle dies, it’s treated very casually, almost like “okay, forget it, sometimes you lose, let’s move on to planning my wedding,” which felt a bit strange to me. The wedding scene was also uncomfortable, with animals eating other animals during the celebration. On top of that, many animals die in the fire, which made the story feel even heavier. The writing style is okay, just not really my type.
