Archibald Christie, marido de Agatha Christie, foi convidado em 1922 a realizar uma viagem para promover British Empire Exhibition. Eles embarcam em uma viagem de dez meses e durante esse tempo, Agatha manteve com sua mãe uma correspondência detalhando todos os lugares e pessoas que ela conheceu, passando pela África do Sul, Austrália, Nova Zelândia, Havaí e Canadá. Mathew Prichard, neto de Agatha, reúne nesse livro cartões-postais, fotos e notícias de jornais, além de trechos da autobiografia da avó, e mostra os lugares que influenciaram os escritos de Agatha.

“My grandmother’s letters on the Grand Tour were the first, if not the only, part of her archive…” Devo dizer que a primeira surpresa que tive com esse livro foi essa. Não fazia ideia que o editor deste livro era neto de Agatha. E que belo trabalho! Este livro é um diário de viagem, e Mathew consegue nos mostrar o quanto Agatha era jovem e apaixonada pelo marido a ponto embarcar num “empreendimento” desse e deixar a filha pequena pra trás. De todos os lugares citados, acho que o Havaí é o único lugar da lista que eu não tenho muita vontade de visitar, mas gostaria muito de um dia visitar todos esses países. Livro altamente recomendado, mesmo que você não seja fã da autora. Para quem é fã, é a cereja do bolo.
