O livro conta a história dos Royal Marine Commandos, tropa anfíbia inglesa, desde seu surgimento, no século XVII até a invasão do Iraque, em 2003.
Cada capítulo reúne as ações de um mesmo período histórico ou teatro de operações.
A história é contada basicamente através da compilação de relatos reais dos que lutaram as batalhas.
O livro passa o entendimento histórico dos acontecimentos, focando mais nas ações taticas, apesar de não detalhar claramente a maioria das batalhas.
É um relato muito interessante de uma tropa que esteve empregada em operações reais pelo mundo ao longo de quase toda sua existência.
