Linda Lael Miller nasceu em 1949 em Washington .Seu pai era um delegado da cidade , embora ele, juntamente com seu tio Jake "Jiggs" Linda também competiu no circuito de rodeio. Uma leitora voraz, Linda começou a escrever suas próprias histórias, quando ela tinha 10 anos.
