Although not many people may see it this way, The Art Of War is a book to be read not only by economists, marketing undergraduates and alike, it is a book to cherish the greatness and admire the knowledge of Sun Tzu, who developed the step-by-step guide for generals and high officers way before firepower was even created (or at least used in the East). Throughout this literary masterpiece the author reveals crucial information on how the great emperos of China - and also the late european leaders - presented such a brilliant sense of perception, thinking and analysis. Adding to all the fully-military information and strategy arrangement, the book presents us with a shortened history of Chinese Warfare and dynasties in the first chapter, adding to cultural, geopolitical and - naturally - military knowledge of the eastern part of the world: since the war with the Tartarians to the Opium War with Europe. Hence, the greatness of this masterpiece shall not be matter of doubt for anyone who reads it . Sun Tzu
Sun Tzu (孫子) (pinyin: Sūn Zǐ) (544 – 496 A.C.), é considerado um dos maiores estrategistas militares de todos os tempos, é o autor de A arte da guerra (兵法), famoso livro chinês sobre tácticas militares, traduzido ao idioma português por Caio Fernando Abreu e Miriam Paglia. Sun Tzu também foi um dos primeiros realistas no campo das ciências políticas. A única fonte que sobreviveu até aos nossos dias sobre a vida de Sun Tzu escrita no século II a.C. pelo historiador Ssu-ma Ch'ien, que o descreve como tendo sido um general que viveu no estado de Wu no século VI a.C.. No entanto a biografia não é coerente com outras fontes sobre o período, e tudo leva a crer que o livro teria sido escrito entre 400 a.C. e 320 a.C.. Não existe uma biografia linear de Sun
