Using the elements and events set in motion in Gone With The Wind, Ripley takes us back to Tara and the people we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy and of course Scarlett who moves to Charleston, Savannah and finally to Ireland in search of her heritage. A well researched novel that harkens us back to a by-gone era and continues a great love story.
The Estate of Margaret Mitchell chose Alexandra Ripley to write the sequel to her epic novel. An interesting sideline is that Ripley attended Ashley Hall in Charleston, a school founded in the Regency villa built by George Alfred Trenholm, Secretary of the Treasury of the Confederacy, a blockade runner, and also the person on whom the character of Rhett Butler is often said to be based.
Basis for the 1994 TV miniseries.
