Taken to Kor (Xiveri Mates 05 #5)

Deena
As leader of our shabby human colony, my nana did crazy things to keep me safe. Evil things. She did even crazier things to hold onto power, like selling humans to the crazy alien with menace in his eyes and spikes in his back. He looks like a war machine, which is why I must be crazy too when I offer myself up to him in place of one of the other humans.

But he rejects me. Calls me defective. Frick that and frick him. I'm not going to let them get away with this. So I steal away on his ship, but when I end up crash-landing on a different ship – this one full of cannibals – the pirate king is the only one nearby with the right kind of spikes – and menace – to help me.

First escape them. Then escape him. Then stop the selling of humans... All I need is for him to not reject me again. Well, that...and save my skin.

Rhork
This wasn't supposed to happen. None of it. My planet's diminishing population of females. Finding genetically-compatible beings on this human moon. Greedy Voraxians claiming them before I could. Losing the human female aboard my ship. Potentially forever...

But when a distress beacon flares, her voice crackles through the static. Her – the human with darker brown spots across her dark brown nose and green eyes full of desperation – a desperation that reminds me of my own.

But that's not why I go for her. It's not even the promise of her body built for breeding that drives me. It's something else. Something powerful. Something frightening. Something that does not care if Deena wants to go home, or that other males will try to take her from me on Kor, or that she's being hunted by monsters in the dark. It's a something that says that Deena is mine. Only mine. Forever.
