It is nearly 1200 years before the birth of Christ and the powerful Egyptian Empire is in turmoil.

Two brothers battle for the throne of Egypt while the wife of one of them looks on knowing that her and her son's future depend on the outcome. If her husband fails Tausret knows that the life of her son and the future of Egypt will be in her hands. She is a woman in what was a man's world but it is a responsibility she will refuse to shun. She knows that she will face opposition not only from the rival pharaoh but from the council, the priesthood and the very fabric of Egyptian society.

This is the story of Tausret and the story of all those she encounters in her bid to become a female pharaoh.

The Female Pharaoh explores the remarkable and dangerous life and times of a little-known figure from the misty depths of history when a long dead civilisation flourished along the banks of the mighty River Nile.
