The Pocket Bible

The pocket bible is a purely literary edition. It is not intended for theological or reference purposes but for the reading enjoyment of all people. It is not designed to be put away on a shelf but to be physically easy to read, to hold and to carry.
In this edition, the arrangement of the text is by time and subject matter. Prose is printed as prose, verse as verse, drama as drama, letters as letters. The spelling and punctuation have been modernized but the words are exactly as they were in the splendid 1611 King James Version.
Dr. Richardson has made a literary abridgment* of the full version. Genealogies, repetitions, unimportant passages have been omitted. The very considerable portion which remains is, in a literary sense, the pure gold of "the noblest monument of English prose".
