Most men who work on ranches are the loneliest men in the world. They have nothing in the future to think about. This is the story of two men were different from the others. They went everywhere together, George and Lennie. One day in the future, they were going to buy their own ranch and Lennie was going to keep rabbits. It was an impossible dream but it gave them something to live for.

Primeiro livro do Steinbeck que eu leio e estou perdidamente apaixonada. Mas não foi amor à primeira vista. "As vinhas da Ira" está aqui na minha estante há um bom tempo, como um daqueles livros que eu "preciso ler". Mas eis que surge a necessidade de ler o pequeno e grandioso "Of mice and men". Nas primeiras páginas, pensei que a leitura não fosse engatar, mas confiei em alguém que me disse "leia, é maravilhoso!". Segui em frente e me encantei.
