Uma das melhores narrativas de Stephen King não é tão popular.

A Maldição do Cigano, ou simplesmente A Maldição, traz a história de Billy Halleck que ao atropelar uma mulher, é amaldiçoado pelo pai dela.

King se faz usar o pecado da gula para criar a alegoria para essa história: Halleck, o rico advogado, é também obeso mórbido e a maldição o fará emagrecer até a morte não importa o quanto coma. A partir disso, todas as investidas do personagem serão relacionadas os pecados capitais como a Ira através dos amigos mafiosos, a Luxúria da mulher, o Orgulho pela filha.

Ninguém escapa.

Há também uma ótima adaptação de 1996 com Roberth John Burke.
