In the Dark ...
The first Laymond book I ever read was The Stake. When I picked it up, I thought it was going to be an epic vampire story. But no, no... it was good, a three-star book. Still, if I read a book by an author and give it three stars, I’m probably not going to read anything else by them. But the reviews for this one were good, and I was curious to see how the story would unfold. The book was good, just not good enough to make me want to read another by this author. And what’s up with the story taking a turn in the last two pages? That happened in The Stake, too, something similar. Like, what the hell? It’s not even a plot twist, just some tiny detail thrown in at the last minute. Lol. Anyway, it was an ‘interesting’ read, for lack of a better word, and at times, entertaining, with a predictable ending tho.
