Nesta edição, acompanhamos os eventos que se desenrolam imediatamente após Vader revelar a Luke Skywalker que é seu pai — momento icônico do filme O Império Contra-Ataca. A trama se constrói em torno da jornada pessoal de Vader, enquanto ele tenta entender melhor seu filho e seu passado. Ao mesmo tempo em que busca as origens de Luke, Vader é assombrado por memórias de Padmé Amidala, sua antiga esposa, e por tudo o que perdeu ao se tornar um lorde Sith.

O roteiro equilibra com precisão os acontecimentos pós-Império Contra-Ataca com flashbacks que remetem às Prequels, principalmente à trilogia que mostra a queda de Anakin Skywalker. Ao fazer isso, a HQ não apenas expande a mitologia do personagem, como também o humaniza, revelando camadas emocionais e psicológicas de um dos vilões mais emblemáticos da cultura pop.
