A premissa do livro é boa, um pacto feito entre dois melhores amigos aos 15 anos em que caso estivessem solteiros aos 30 eles se casariam, mas a execução foi muito ruim.
O Reese é o típico personagem de friends to lovers que se apaixona primeiro mas mantém isso em segredo, porém ele tinha declarações e ações muito contraditórias, como por exemplo: se dizia extremamente apaixonado pela melhor amiga, mas depois três dias de um desentendimento bobo com a Erin (de quem ele tinha acabado de realizar o sonho de ficar noivo), ele simplesmente cogita a ideia de casar com a ex dele, que foi visitá-lo, alegando que seria um relacionamento muito mais fácil e melhor pra ele, além de mandar mensagens pra ela, mantendo uma espécie de plano B se as coisas não dessem certo com a própria Erin. Quanto a Erin, ela era meio chata em algumas situações no livro, principalmente sobre a vida dos outros, mas foi legal acompanhar o trabalho dela de blogueira de moda. Além de tudo, algumas pontas ficaram soltas no final da história.
