Essa história conta a trajetória de Betesheba uma jovem bonita e determinada que ganha uma propriedade rural de herança e vai cuidar dela com muito zelo e dedicação.

Ela vai ter três homens que vão se apaixonar por seus encantos, o Bol que é uma paixão mais desvairada depois tem o Sargento Troy um homem egoísta e malvado e por fim o honrado e simpático Gabriel.

No final ela se rende aos encantos de Gabriel.

O livro é bem divertido e com muita aventura.
