Apresentação de um contraste

Elizabeth Gaskell, amiga íntima de Charlotte Brontë, traz em sua obra uma semelhança bastante grande com a linguagem da amiga e da época. Afinal, vi muito de Jane Eyre ou Shirley em Norte em Sul, características sutis e pouco visualizadas. O livro apresenta um contraste grande entre duas regiões da Inglaterra, o norte e o sul, sendo o primeiro o da indústria ascendente, das fábricas, da segregação entre patrões e empregados; e o segundo sendo do campo, da calmaria e da vida ao ar livre. Margaret viveu entre esses dois mundos, e entre esses dois mundos ela passa por vários obstáculos até alcançar uma certa bonança. O livro também foi comentado como semelhante a Orgulho e Preconceito, já que a dinâmica do casal principal funciona de uma forma parecida.

Apesar de eu achar uma narrativa bastante difícil de evoluir, com personagens que me deixavam indignada, entendo o teor de humanidade que eles possuem. As coisas se resolvem de forma lenta demais, os personagens por seu próprio orgulho não se falam e acumulam histórias e plots novos o tempo todo, até os últimos capítulos; mas, no geral, uma boa obra.
