Em edição pocket bastante econômica, essa antologia traz, além da obra-prima do pós-guerra que dá nome ao livro, outros poemas emblemáticos de Eliot, como 'Spleen' e 'The Hollow Men', que dão uma boa noção da trajetória de um dos mais significativos poetas do século XX. A possibilidade de ler esses poemas no idioma original permite sentir com maior precisão o repertório rítmico e os jogos de palavras presentes nos versos, cuja musicalidade impressiona. A obra traz ainda uma introdução bastante didática, que passa tanto pela biografia do autor quanto pela seleção dos poemas, e uma série de notas do autor e da antologista, que mostram a riqueza intertextual dessa produção. Apesar de ser um livro pequeno, dá uma boa base para entender por que Eliot, além de ter sido laureado com o prêmio Nobel, tornou-se uma das mais importantes vozes da poesia moderna.
