A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire começa extamente do ponto que em o anterior terminou, ou seja, no surto. Seguindo o mesmo padrão de (quase) todas as outras trilogias de fantasia, o segundo livro é mais focado na construção das personagens e suas relações entre si, avançando bem pouco na enredo geral. Neste livro pude conhecer muito mais a personalidade da protagonista, o que só me fez gosta ainda mais dela, sendo uma das pouquíssimas personagens femininas que não passa a história toda sofrendo de remorso por matar quem a queria morta. Porém, confesso que achei algumas partes do livro um pouco monótonas e sem propósito, incluindo as 800 páginas de romance cão e gato, que apesar das cenas serem divertidas, aconteceram exageradamente. Mesmo sendo mais longo que o necessário, é um livro importante para inserir o leitor ainda mais no universo criado pela autora, que devo dizer, sabe muito como puxar um gancho para o próximo livro. Surtei com a última frase.
