É uma trilogia distópica e mistura elementos de A Seleção e de Jogos Vorazes. O país se chama Phangloria e as pessoas são divididas em echelons (uma espécie de mistura de castas com distritos), tem os nobres, os guardiões, os artistas, os agricultores e os industriais, nessa hierarquia. E o Princess Trials é um concurso de beleza que elege a jovem para se casar com o príncipe Kevon.

Porém, a visita do embaixador de um país vizinho, com o qual Phangloria mantém acordos de comércio muito importantes, vai interferir bastante nesse concurso. Nesse país eles gostam das coisas mais violentas, digamos assim, e o concurso de beleza se torna muito perigoso, mortal para algumas. Também há intrigas políticas, rebeldes, romance e muito mais.

Eu comecei a leitura achando que não me encantaria, que seria uma cópia das obras em que se inspirou, mas estava errada, e terminei já doida pra ler a continuação e ver se minhas suspeitas sobre alguns personagens se confirmam.
