Vi uma menção à família Mitford no livro <i>Breakfast at Tiffany's</i> e posteriormente, lendo mais sobre ela, fiquei intrigada pela aura de mistério e curiosidade em torno das seis irmãs, cada uma merecendo uma página própria na Wikipedia. Quando descobri que uma delas, Nancy, era escritora, e que um dos seus livros era considerado autobriográfico, resolvi ler.
Acabei me enganando e pegando o livro errado, os elementos autobiográficos estão no livro anterior a esse, <i>The Pursuit of Love</i>.
Acredito que esses tenham sido os motivos de eu não ter aproveitado tanto a leitura. Eu esperava uma personagem forte, mas Fanny, que é quem narra a história em primeira pessoa, é muito passiva, vive à mercê das vontades dos outros.
Não foi um desperdício completo, teve momentos que eu realmente apreciei. Só que no geral, meu saldo não foi positivo.
Mas quem gosta de ler sobre a aristocracia inglesa, está em busca de uma história leve e pegar esse livro sem as mesmas expectativas que eu, vai ter outra experiência, mais prazerosa certamente.
