Sequel to Herland.
Herland described an all-women utopia in a secluded high valley, where 3 adventurous young men visit by airplane. Eventually, 2 of the 3 are expelled, along with a young Herland woman who has married one of the men. With Her in Ourland continues as the husband and wife tour the world outside of Herland, interviewing people, taking notes and photographs, and discussing history, religions, war, child-rearing, the role of women, treatment of immigrants, women's suffrage, and more. The two novels together convey the author's social criticisms of our world at her time and her prescriptions to improve the human condition in the United States.

Nem de longe tão bom ou envolvente quanto Herland. No final de Herland eu estava ansiosa para Ellador descobrir nosso mundo e ouvir seus pensamentos sobre ele, mas, meu Deus, isso era chato. O enredo real é reduzido ao mínimo e parece mais uma pretensão de lançar um monte de teorias e críticas sobre a sociedade do início do século 20. Na maioria das vezes, eu não me sentia conhecedor o suficiente (sobre economia, sociologia, história) para confirmar ou contradizer seus pontos de vista. É um livro tão confuso. Alguns parágrafos eram bons, mas a maioria era sobre como, embora a América (os EUA no caso, obviamente) seja falha, ainda é o maior país, exaltando a escravidão e o genocídio dos nativos, porque eles eram selvagens. E eu me pergunto como pode ser tão inteligente, mas ainda ser racista, anti-semita e colonial.
