High fantasy novel for children by C. S. Lewis, published by Geoffrey Bles in 1951. It was the second published of seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia, and Lewis had finished writing it in 1949, before the first book was out. It is volume four in recent editions of the series, sequenced according to the internal chronology of the books. Like the others, it was illustrated by Pauline Baynes and her work has been retained in many later editions.

Um ano após voltarem de Nárnia para seu mundo; Pedro, Susana, Edmundo e Lúcia, estão em uma estação de trem indo para seu primeiro dia de aula, quando o ambiente ao seu redor começa a mudar de forma, os prédios somem, o solo se transforma e deparam-se com um novo mundo. Enquanto vão explorando descobrem estar em uma Nárnia completamente diferente da época deles.

Não nos é informado quanto tempo se passou desde a última vez em que as crianças reinaram por lá. Encontraram com um Anão o qual os atualizará dos acontecimentos do mundo, sobre o líder usurpador do qual tenta apagar por completo a história de Aslan, Nárnia e dos filhos e filhas de Adão e Eva. E logo resolvem ajudar a colocar tudo em ordem, devolvendo o trono para Caspian X, descendente de Caspian, primeiro rei após a saída dos dois Reis e das duas Rainhas.

Quarto livro das crônicas na ordem cronológica; a narrativa tem aspectos favoráveis, mostra quão bom era C.S. Lewis, todavia, não tem sido uma experiência excelente, pela falta de profundidade, talvez se eu tivesse lido mais novo teria outro sentimento pelo enredo, entretanto, coloquei como meta conhecer essas crônicas enaltecida por muitos, vamos até o final.
