Stephen King é um daqueles autores que adora fazer viagem intimista com crianças... e normalmente passa ao largo de uma boa caracterização.

Normalmente porque ela são sempre inocentes, boas ou espertas demais, porém não daquele jeito fantástico da literatura infantil, e sim daquela maneira que não consegue te convencer que seja uma criança pensando.

Trisha, a protagonista em questão, é extremamente coerente para uma menina de nove anos que está traumatizada pela separação dos pais, a mudança de cidade e escola e sofrendo de alucinações devido a desnutrição e a uma febre provocada por uma pneumonia.

Pois sim, além de ser uma menininha que se perde na floresta, ela ainda consegue passar por tudo isso e pensar de forma sã - e não há outra forma de colocar isso, já que é um livro em primeira pessoa.

Então, ao invés de passar o seu tempo ansiando e torcendo pela pequena Trisha, você o gasta tentando se convencer que aquilo tudo é razoavelmente verossímil.
