Faz teu nome e destino

Em "The Four treasures of the Sky", acompanhamos Daiyu, uma menina chinesa que herdou seu nome e talvez seu destino de uma outra menina, que pode ter existido ou não.
Ao longo de sua vida Daiyu teve que assumir as identidades de Feng, Peony, Jacob Li e por fim dela mesma para sobreviver.
A foi inspirada por um acontecimento real, cinco chineses foram enforcados após serem acusados de cometer um crime, no auge da xenofobia que até mesmo as leis permitiam em Pierce, Idaho do século 19.
Após pesquisas a autora incluiu esse e outros acontecimentos, outras violências que o povo imigrante chinês sofreu, e que não são de conhecimento da maioria das pessoas.
Infelizmente durante os anos de pandemia, vimos que as coisas não mudaram muito, e que algumas pessoas ainda se sentem muito confortáveis e seguras para despejarem seu ódio e preconceito.
Apesar de ser um pouco angustiante em alguns momentos, a leitura é muito fluída.
Torci, vibrei e sofri por Daiyu.
