The book contains an accurate reprinting of the text of the 1843 first edition, complete with the original hand-colored engravings and textual woodcuts by John Leech. Supplementing these are over eighty seasonal and related sketches by other artists; George Cruikshank, Robert Seymour and H.K. Browne. Michael Hearn has provided the reader with exhaustive annotations in which he explains the various literary, autobiographical, historical, and other concerns suggested by the text. The bibliography includes a list of notable editions of 'A Christmas Carol'.
