O livro explana a história de Persephone, uma garota que passava suas férias de verão em uma pequena cidade rural chamada “Barry’s Bay”, assim encontrando-se cada vez mais próxima de uma família que conheceu por lá. Doze anos depois, com o falecimento daquela que ela considerava uma segunda mãe, Percy retornará para aquele lugar cheio de recordações e arrependimentos enquanto reencontra seu primeiro amor após mais de uma década.

“Every Summer After” é mais uma história de verão perfeita para aqueles que se entusiasmaram com “O Verão que Mudou Minha Vida”— todavia, agora em uma versão “Jovem Adulto”.
Em seu primeiro romance, Carley Fortune nos presenteia com uma experiência imersiva e uma escrita fluída que auxiliou o ritmo literário caótico que me encontrava. Honestamente, o início do livro me satisfez tanto que acreditava estar na presença de um novo favorito. Contudo, para minha infelicidade tudo desandou ao alcançar o final.
Aqueles personagens que até então eram considerados por mim como carismáticos e agradáveis passaram a me tirar do sério. A dependência emocional que o casal adquiriu graças a suas ações e a falta de comunicação era impertinente— isto sem considerar o final tão frenético que concedeu-me uma sensação de experiência incompleta. Por outro lado, embora determinadas atitudes vindas dos personagens tenham causado-me incômodo em selecionados momentos, é inegável que os erros e acertos dos mesmos atribuíram com um ar de veracidade ao enredo, considerando o contraste entre o passado imaturo de ambos e o crescimento pessoal no presente.
Em suma, foi um livro interessante para ler rapidamente em um dia, e que estava sendo uma leitura excelente até tornar-se boa.
