É uma leitura densa e encantadora. Embora tenha esse plano de fundo da caçada a raposa, o foco é o desenvolvimento dos personagens e do romance. Assistir Wes e Margareth se apaixonarem foi uma experiência edificante, aos poucos e sem perceber eles ajudaram um ao outro a curar feridas abertas que os dois achavam que jamais iriam cicatrizar. A forma que eles se mantiveram fortes perante a discriminação por serem imigrantes e por terem crenças diferentes da cidade, me fez refletir sobre muitos aspectos na minha própria vida. Sobre a construção de mundo, a atmosfera era muito antiga e envolvente em alguns momentos pareceu bagunçado, porque tinha aspectos "mais atuais" que pareciam que não deveriam estar ali, mas acho que são detalhes que podem ser contornados. Sobre a caçada, é um evento comentado no livro inteiro e quando finalmente aconteceu foi uma cena curta e um pouco apressada, queria ter visto um pouco mais de ação, mas tirando esses detalhes, "Uma magia fatal" foi uma leitura incrível e memorável.
