A young apprentice silversmith growing up in revolutionary Boston becomes involved with such patriots as Hancock, Otis, and Samuel Adams. The story of Johnny Tremain begins in the summer of 1773 in Boston just as the British are asking colonists to pay to support British troops in the colonies. Johnny, a young apprentice silversmith, finds himself amid the fomenting anger of the colonists in the opening days of the American Revolution.
