Tenho uma regra que é: Não formar uma opinião, nem desistir, até vencer as 100 primeiras páginas de um livro. Os cinco episódios iniciais de uma série. Ou trinta minutos de um filme. Porém, confesso que quase abandonei este livro no começo. E ainda bem que não o fiz. Porque foi uma leitura realmente divertida.

O livro começa bem arrastado e lento. E eu fiquei um pouco perdida sobre qual caminho a escritora pretendia tomar. Inicialmente, parece que o livro inteiro seria sobre uma turma de escrita criativa da faculdade e só. E esse foi meu principal motivo de desanimo sobre o livro. Somado é claro ao personagem do Blake. Que sempre que terminava uma frase, me deixava abismada como ele era babaca e egomaníaco. E a cada POV, fui criando um relação de ódio com esse personagem.

Mas vamos lá, ainda não tinha passado o marco das 100 páginas e me forcei a ler, me forcei a continuar e aí veio toda essa pequena reviravolta. Com o foco central da história sendo a escrita, da criação de um livro, das piadas sobre os estigmas em livros eróticos (mas que são fonte de dinheiro pra muito escritor), das fórmulas prontas, da ansiedade e de todas as emoções e fases da criação de um livro.

E pronto! A escritora conseguiu me conquistar mesmo com o personagem mais embuste possível.

Porém, ao longo dos capítulos, o personagem do Blake foi crescendo, mudando, algumas camadas aparecendo. E incrivelmente, me fez lembrar descaradamente o personagem de Gerard no filme "A verdade nua e crua". Que começou como um personagem que eu odiava, com as piores atitudes possíveis e aos poucos foi sofrendo a metamorfose pra "AH, okay, agora entendo esse cara e posso a ter gostar dele". E foi o que acabou acontecendo.

Blake ainda tem uma vantagem, ele nunca quis mudar a Amanda. (Minha maior crítica ao filme que usei pra comparação). E como eu me identifiquei com a Amanda! Toda aquela coisa de óculos, super-heróis, nariz enfiado em livros e tratar personagens como pessoas reais. Prazer, euzinha.

Foi uma leitura agradável e despretensiosa. Ótima pra passar o tempo.
